# Getting Started

> Create your first project, upload documents, and connect Claude

Sputnik Legal is a case management platform that processes your legal documents automatically. Upload court filings, contracts, evidence, and correspondence. Sputnik extracts the key information -- people, organizations, dates, summaries -- and makes everything searchable. Then connect Claude to explore your case through conversation.

## 1. Create a project

A project is your workspace for a single case or matter. From your organization's dashboard, click **New Project** and give it a name. Select which team members should have access.

## 2. Upload your documents

Open your project and go to the upload page. Drag and drop files, or click to browse. You can upload entire folders at once to preserve your file structure. Sputnik accepts PDFs, Word documents, images, audio, video, and more.

Processing starts automatically. Within minutes, your documents will have AI-generated titles, summaries, and linked people and organizations. See [Uploading Documents](uploading-documents) for details.

## 3. Explore with Claude

Connect Claude to your Sputnik workspace. Once connected, you can ask Claude to search your documents, summarize key findings, and help you build your case knowledge. See [Connecting to Claude](connecting-to-claude) for setup instructions.
