# Working with Claude

> What Claude can do with your case files and how to get the most out of it

Once you've [connected Claude to Sputnik](connecting-to-claude.md), you can chat with Claude about your case. Claude can access your projects, read your documents, and help you organize your findings.

## What Claude Can Do

**Search and read your documents.** Claude can search across all documents in a project by keyword, date range, or tag. It can read full document content, summaries, and metadata.

**Browse people and organizations.** Claude sees everyone identified in your documents -- parties, witnesses, lawyers, companies, and other entities -- and can look up which documents mention them.

**Review your timeline.** Claude can browse timeline events extracted from your documents to help you understand the sequence of events in a case.

**Create notes.** Ask Claude to take notes on what it finds. Notes appear in Sputnik attached to the relevant document, person, entity, or timeline event, marked as created by AI.

**Star important items.** Ask Claude to star key documents, people, or events so you can find them quickly later.

**Tag documents.** Claude can create tags and apply them to documents to help you organize your case files.

**Build project knowledge.** Claude can create and update **contexts** -- background knowledge documents about your case -- and **skills** -- reusable instructions for specific types of analysis.

## Example Prompts

Here are some ways to work with Claude on your case:

**Searching**

* "Find all documents mentioning the settlement agreement"
* "What documents were filed in March 2024?"
* "Search for anything related to the lease termination"

**Analysis**

* "Summarize the key arguments in the plaintiff's motion"
* "What role does Jane Smith play across these documents?"
* "Walk me through the timeline of events leading up to the complaint"

**Organizing**

* "Star the most important evidence documents"
* "Tag all the financial documents"
* "Create a note summarizing the inconsistencies you found in the deposition"

**Knowledge building**

* "Create a context document with the background facts of this case"
* "Create a skill for reviewing employment contracts"

## Where Claude's Work Shows Up

Everything Claude creates appears in Sputnik, marked as created by **AI**. You'll see Claude's notes, stars, and tags alongside your own. You can edit or delete anything Claude creates.
