Skills are instructions that tell Claude how to perform specific types of analysis on your project. They are created and managed by Claude on your behalf.

How Skills Work

When you ask Claude to perform a recurring type of analysis, it can save those instructions as a skill. The next time you or a team member needs the same analysis, Claude already knows how to do it.

Examples

  • “Create a skill for reviewing employment contracts” — Claude saves a checklist of what to look for in employment agreements.
  • “Create a skill for summarizing damages” — Claude saves instructions for identifying and categorizing damages across documents.
  • “Create a skill for building case timelines” — Claude saves a structured approach to extracting and ordering key events.

Creating Skills

Ask Claude to create a skill whenever you find yourself repeating the same type of request. For example, “create a skill that checks contracts for termination clauses and summarizes the key terms.” Claude creates the skill, and you can view all skills on your project’s Skills page.

Editing Skills

You can ask Claude to update a skill if your needs change. For example, “update the contract review skill to also check for non-compete clauses.”
